The rationale: why Phoebus?
-
Phoebus is the god of light. He will hopefully give us enough power
to see inside the Sun
-
Phoebus is also the god of the Sun, in some other mythologies.
-
Last and most significant, Gaston Phoebus, count of Foix, wrote a book
about 'Hunting'; very appropriate indeed for our purpose. Some interesting
links coming from the Bibliotheque Nationale depict these 'hunting' strategies:
If you do not like the iconography, I will oblige and remove the names...but
please do suggest
something else then!

Means:
-
Data exchange: the members of the group agree to exchange
freely their data to achieve the goal. The data are placed on an
ftp
account in Norway. E-mail
me if you need the password.
-
Bi-monhtly teleconferences:
Each member of the group are called at 21:00 (UK time) every 2 weeks
on Wenesdays starting on October 11, 2000. The teleconf will help
increasing interaction between the members of the group, preparing the
data for a timely workshop and for discussing other important issues.

The agenda and minutes of the teleconfs
of 2000 can be found

3rd workshop: we had another bath of science at the end of
October '99. Most of the discussion were orbiting around a paper
which should come out very soon. The set-up was similar be to that
of the 1st workshop.
-
2nd workshop: a real working session took place at ESTEC
in the September-October '98 time frame. The set-up was similar be
to that of the 1st
workshop. Now we even have a new
aide-memoire to download!
-
Publications: now you can have a look
at what we have achieved!
