The objective:
The objective of this exercise is to set a common recipe for getting the mode parameters for solar-like stars and classical pulsators
The stars
The stars to be tested are a d Scuti (HD181555). Sampling is 32 s. Observation duration is 150 days (405000 points); and a star called the Sun! For the latter these are VIRGO/SPM data being 150-day long sampled at 60 s.
| HD181555 (m=5.7) | |
|---|---|
| Teff (K) | 6839 |
| log g | 4.049 |
| [Fe / H] | -0.15 |
| V (rot, km/s) | 42.2 |
The teams
There shall be at least two teams analyzing the time series:
The assumptions
In order to validate the recipe for solar-lie stars, we shall have the following procedure for fitting the spectra:
This is derived from our paper in the Corot Book. Guess parameters are not specified.
The planning
The time series should be ready not later than End September 2006. The data can be found here.
The p-mode parameters available with error bars should be available mid-November 2006. The format returned should be an ASCII file as follows:
l, n, freq [microHz], error_freq [microHz], splitting [microHz], error_splitting [microHz], log_e[width (microHz)],
error_log_e[width (microHz)], log_e[height], error_log_e[height)], asymmetry, erroe_asymmetry, inclination_angle (degrees), error_inclination_angle(degrees), background, error_background
The minutes of the meeting summarizing the findings of this sixth exercise can be found here.
