Victor Bonjean

About me

I am a French PhD student in astrophysics and cosmology. I am currently based at the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale in Orsay and in the LERMA (Laboratoire d'Etudes du Rayonnement et de la Matière en Astrophysique et Atmosphères) at the Observatoire de Paris. I am particularly interested in the large scale structure of the Universe, and in its evolution.

My work focus on galaxy clusters and inter-cluster filamentary structures, combining multi-wavelength observations. I try to link the study of the hot and diffuse gas present in the Cosmic Web and traced by the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (tSZ) effect to the evolution of the galaxies along the large-scale structures, from the distant to the very close Universe. I am also very interested in the application of the latest techniques in computer science (e.g., machine learning and deep learning) to extract new features, new models or new detections of sources, using the large amount of public data available in the community.

I am a close collaborator of the ByoPiC team, an ERC-funded project that aims to detect and characterise the different components of the Cosmic Web.
