SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Monday 17 November 2003 ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * JOP153 Major Flare Watch (#7000) current target is AR10501 (formerly AR10484). * An attempt to move the HGA Z axis in single-winding mode has been scheduled for today at 19:30-20:30 UT, to see if the HGA activities have improved the situation. No impact expected other than unavailability of NRT. As needed, double-winding movements will be used to ascertain the exact position after the test. * Living With a Star Science Workshop "Connecting our Dynamic Sun to the Heliosphere and Geospace" is planned for March 23-26, 2004 Boulder, Colorado. The meeting website is: http://lasp.colorado.edu/sdo/meetings/Workshop2004First.html FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: DOY 318: RSL, VIRGO, TTMH_TOMM_MMTOMH_03318 APME Z-Axis Improvement Operations Adjusted thermal settings for QTR26 and QTR27. Lost CMD ability from 1620 to 1800. No data loss. 318/2349 Lost 9 minutes 18 seconds of recoverable TLM due to a MPA failure at D46. MDI continuous operations were interrupted to preserve other science and HK data on the SSR. 319/1300 AOS from D27 was 6 minutes late due to an antenna controller problem at the site. Delayed commanding activities 14 minutes. 319/1908 Unable to forward attitude data directly to FDF due to maintenance being performed on their system. Data is available in the IMOC if necessary. 320/1421 Corrupted command between D27 and the spacecraft delayed commanding activities 6 minutes. 320/2220 Received degraded TLM from 2220 to 2257 due to problems with the SBE and modulator at D46. No CMD ability during same time period. Any lost data after 2240 is unrecoverable; other data recoverable from D27. Other: None. SSR is empty. Daily meeting, 17 November at MEDOC: ----------------------------------- Welcome to Lucia Abbo (UVCS, Torino Observatory) ! Week-end activity : ------------------ SUMER support to the flare Watch (MFW): On Friday 14 Nov., : the door was opened between 11 pm and 1 am. On Sat. 15, Sun 16 and Monday 17 : Flare Watch (X= -1015, Y=50); Only Fe XII line was detected. Status of the Sun and Campaigns: -------------------------------- As mentioned in Bernhard Fleck's and Max Millenium Chief Observer's messages MFW is on and the target is 10 501 on the disk. The probablity for an X event is about 5% according to NOAA. On the other hand, AR 484 is already at East limb and 486 and 488 are coming within one day. It was decided to support as much as possible the present MFW through : CDS dedicated time during the next days : shortened synoptics, flare watch instead of GIS atlas, etc... on disk and limb targets. UVCS dedicated time on Tuesday and Thursday with East limb coverage. As far as SUMER is concerned, no slit move can be performed between Monday and Thursday because of the unfavorable time schedule for commanding. (For the same reason, SUMER is planned for 18-20 November). The current MFW will be performed at the East limb until 13.00 when the slit is moved to X=0. SPIRIT/CORONA : V. Slemcin sent us the following message : "The SPIRIT is now in the synoptic mode: 4h, 16h UT - 304-171-284-195A- once, 175/304 pair twice in 30 min; each 1,5 h - 175/304 pair twice in 30 min." CDS reported that some entries had to be deleted in their Monday planning.
