BACH Michel, CNES

Abstract
SMESE (Small Explorer for Solar Eruption) is a Franco-Chinese mission aimed to study Solar Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections. The mission is based on a scientific payload made by French and Chinese institutes and on a 200 kg satellite based on the maximal re-use of the MYRIADE product line. MYRIADE is a multi-purpose flight proven platform developed by CNES in partnership with industry. The presentation will describe the SMESE project, focusing on the main characteristics of the satellite. The capabilities (and the limits) of the MYRIADE platform will be emphasized. This presentation will moreover give some backgrounds about the development plan and the project organisation.
