Abstract | The apparent 1.3-year oscillation in the rotation rate at the base of the convection zone, reported by Howe et al. (2000), disappeared after 2001. Has it returned, or is it returning, with the onset of the new solar cycle? We examine the latest results and use statistical tests to assess the significance of the
correlation between MDI and GONG observations.
