Abstract | We search for large-scale coherent structures that might be present in the convection zone. Coherent flow patterns aligned in the north-south direction are expected in the equatorial region by some convection zone models. Since they might be easily obscured by the effect of surface magnetic fields, we study the subsurface flows in near-surface layers during the long solar minimum between solar cycles 23 and 24. We measure the zonal and meridional flows analyzing GONG high-resolution Doppler data with ring-diagram analysis obtained during the years 2008 and early 2009. We will present preliminary results. |
