Abstract | Space experiments like MDI, or recently HMI on SDO, are providing unprecedented astrometric information on the solar radius and its variation. We've made good progress in understanding how to measure milliarcsec-scale solar changes and tiny variations in the photometry of the solar limb. This talk will summarize the state of our understanding of the solar limb and its implications for understanding the solar cycle and potentially other stellar cycles. |
