Abstract | The Seismic Propagation through Active Regions and Convection (SPARC) code simulates acoustic wavefields by solving the linearized three-dimensional Euler equations in Cartesian geometry. We test the performance of the code using idealistic background conditions (e.g., polytropes and isothermal layers) compared against semi-analytical translationally invariant models. Based on these tests, we make specific recommendations to the SPARC user community regarding the choice of vertical grid structure and resolution, setup of boundary conditions, and application of filtering algorithms. We then present results from
application of the SPARC code in simulating active solar regions. |
