Abstract | Global oscillations have been observed in the high-frequency spectrum in velocity and intensity measurements, above the acoustic cutoff frequency of the solar atmosphere. In a recent work a strong correlation observed between helioseismic data and soft x-ray flux has been cited as evidence that solar flares may be one of the mechanisms whereby these high-frequency oscillations are excited. Here we investigate how the correlation between helioseismic time series from the instruments aboard SOHO and the soft x-ray data from GOES SXI might be influenced by the pre-analysis processing of the data as well as the analysis methodology. |
